Remain

M. Night Shyamalan returns with Remain, blending his signature twist-driven storytelling with atmospheric coastal dread.

• Why it matters: Shyamalan’s knack for slow-burn tension and narrative misdirection could reinvigorate his late-career trajectory while exploring isolation and mystery in a small-town setting.
• What we know: Reclusive architect Tate Gordon, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, confronts both personal demons and a sinister town secret after meeting a mysterious woman, promising psychological horror woven with supernatural undertones.
• Who's involved: Jake Gyllenhaal leads with his proven intensity in horror-thrillers; Phoebe Dynevor offers fresh gravitas; Shyamalan directs, continuing his auteur legacy in horror.
• The buzz: Early reactions highlight Shyamalan’s atmospheric control and a compelling lead performance, though fans debate whether the twist will land as sharply as his classics.
