Walled In

2009 ·1h 32m · ★ 4.8 (195)

Having finally secured her first assignment from her family's demolition business, Sam Walczak is sent to supervise the destruction of an apartment house, only to discover a group of tenants still living in the condemned building. One such tenant, Jimmy, tells Sam an urban legend about a serial murderer who used to live in the building and entomb his victims in the walls. What's worse, the dead are believed to still harass the residents to this day.

Why it matters

A claustrophobic blend of haunted house chills and trapped-in-the-walls dread that leans hard into urban legend territory.

  • Practical effects and set design amplify the suffocating atmosphere of a doomed building about to be erased.
  • A slow-burn mood piece that rewards patience, evoking echoes of 1970s giallo and 80s haunted apartment horrors.
  • Fans of folklore-tinged ghost stories and derelict spaces will find a grimy, unsettling niche here.
  • Not for those craving high-octane scares or narrative clarity—more about creeping unease than plot payoff.
