Why it matters
A chilling fusion of folk horror and body horror that probes the dark edges of motherhood and agency in a bleak, atmospheric tale.
- Nordic folk horror meets Eastern European superstition in a grim fairy tale setting.
- Practical effects and unsettling imagery highlight the physical and psychological costs of the pact.
- For fans of slow-burn dread and grim explorations of reproductive horror à la *The Witch* and *Raw*.
- A meditation on class, power, and bodily autonomy wrapped in a moody, isolating atmosphere.
