Death on a Rainy Sunday

Mort un dimanche de pluie

1986 ·1h 49m · ★ 4.8 (15)

Thriller about a psycho looking for revenge. Bronsky is a paraplegic because of an accident at a construction site that was partly due to the head architect, David Briand. Many years after the accident, Bronsky shows up at Briand's residence with his family and his trailer looking for assistance. He and his wife insinuate themselves into the household without revealing their true identity. They start to work for Briand and his wife Elaine as a gardener and a babysitter with the sole objective of wreaking havoc on their lives and avenging Bronsky's disabilities.

Why it matters

A slow-burning revenge thriller that mines suburban dread and simmering malice through the lens of physical and psychological trauma.

  • Roots itself in ’80s psychological suspense, leaning on mood over gore to unsettle.
  • Bronsky’s paraplegia isn’t just a plot point—it’s the engine of a haunting vendetta that questions justice and cruelty.
  • The creeping infiltration of Briand’s household taps into domestic paranoia and class tensions rarely explored in era-specific thrillers.
  • Best for fans of character-driven suspense who appreciate simmering menace over explicit horror — a quiet storm of resentment and retribution.
