Why it matters
A claustrophobic dive into Korean haunted house lore that blends folk superstition with modern ghost-hunting dread.
- Taps into regional horror traditions rarely seen outside Korea’s borders, enriching the haunted house template.
- The film’s creeping atmosphere and grim, shadowy interiors ratchet up unease without relying on cheap jump scares.
- A somber meditation on grief and trauma underpins the supernatural elements, giving the scares emotional weight.
- Practical effects and subtle sound design create a tactile, unsettling presence that lingers beyond the screen.
