Nekromantik
An employee of Joe's Streetcleaning Agency, a company that cleans up after grisly accidents, Rob brings home an entire decomposing corpse, much to the delight of his girlfriend, Betty.
Why it matters
A transgressive dive into taboo and decay, *Nekromantik* confronts the darkest corners of desire with unsettling audacity and underground grit.
- Helmut Berger’s street sweeper is an unforgettable antihero navigating obsession beyond death’s veil.
- Jörg Buttgereit’s cult classic blends shock, dark humor, and low-fi practical effects that refuse to sanitize the grotesque.
- A pioneering entry in German underground horror, it challenges cinematic boundaries and societal norms alike.
- Not for the faint of heart—this one’s a visceral, uncomfortable trip into necrophilia that tests the limits of viewer tolerance and taste.
