Friday the 13th
A group of young adults visit a boarded up campsite named Crystal Lake where they soon encounter the mysterious Jason Voorhees and his deadly intentions.
Why it matters
A streamlined reboot that sharpens Jason Voorhees into a faster, deadlier predator while stripping away the franchise’s camp for a leaner slasher ride.
- Reinvents Jason as a cunning hunter who runs, sets traps, and wields arrows—more predator than lumbering brute.
- Embraces brutal, practical gore effects that honor the series’ splatter roots without overindulgence.
- For fans who want a modernized slasher with tighter scares, not a deep dive into lore or character complexity.
- Lacks memorable characters and innovative storytelling, but delivers solid suspense for devotees of classic kill sequences.
