Dinner with a Vampire
A cena col vampiro
A camera crew unearths a thousand year old vampire from Mesopotamia. Years after his rise from the grave, the vampire becomes a famous horror film director and holds auditions for his up and coming film. Four young hopefuls are chosen and are invited to spend the night at the vampire's house. At dinner the vampire reveals his true nature to his guests and the real reason why they are there, to kill him before dawn, as he has grown bored with his existence.
Why it matters
A cult slice of 80s vampire horror that blends meta commentary with low-budget charm and creepy practical effects.
- Early example of self-aware horror directors before the postmodern wave took hold.
- Mesopotamian vampire lore adds an unusual ancient flavor to the undead mythos.
- Practical effects and atmosphere deliver that gritty, VHS-era midnight movie vibe.
- Perfect for fans of offbeat vampire tales who appreciate ambition over polish.
