Why it matters
A moody blend of psychological thriller and gothic horror that skulks through family secrets and spiritual malaise with European flair.
- Early example of Euro-horror’s fascination with meditation and mysticism as a source of dread.
- Twists on the classic “locked house” trope, where claustrophobia meets simmering domestic menace.
- Uneven pacing but atmospheric set design and shadowy cinematography evoke a suffocating dread.
- Fans of psychodramas with supernatural hints and 60s Euro-cinema quirks will find a curious gem here.
