Dracula vs. Frankenstein
Judith Fontaine is looking for her sister Joanie, who has disappeared into the hippie community of Venice, California. It turns out that Joanie has become fallen victim to Groton, an axe-wielding homicidal maniac under the employ of Dr. Durea, the last living descendant of the Frankenstein family and is now both running a house of horrors on the beach's boardwalk and performing experiments on Groton's victims in his basement laboratory.
Why it matters
A low-budget mashup that’s less Hammer horror and more drive-in camp, blending two iconic monsters with a generous helping of ‘so-bad-it’s-good’ charm.
- A cult curiosity showcasing the era’s wild DTV spirit before the term existed—where ambition outpaced budget by miles.
- Watch for the earnest, if stilted, performances that turn this into accidental comedy gold rather than gothic terror.
- A crude but fascinating artifact of monster-movie crossovers long before cinematic universes were a thing.
- Perfect for fans of schlocky grindhouse fare who appreciate the charm in eye-rolling dialogue and goofy creature effects.
