A high school outcast who lives in a trailer with his mother finally meets a friend. He wants to ask her if they can go the next step, but then sees her kissing another boy at a party. He runs home only to find his mother having sex with a drunk. He starts yelling, but is countered by the drunk when he suffocates him and makes him look like he hung himself. The scarecrow comes in when the boy's soul is pushed into it. He goes out for revenge.

Why it matters

A grim fusion of teen angst and supernatural revenge that channels body horror through a rural lens.

  • Practical effects deliver unsettling transformation scenes that echo ’80s creature feature craftsmanship.
  • A rare example of early 2000s indie horror grappling with isolation and family dysfunction in a small-town setting.
  • For fans of folk-tinged revenge tales with a dark coming-of-age undercurrent, it’s a cult curiosity worth digging up.
  • Uneven pacing and low-budget constraints limit its impact, but the sincerity and rawness give it a distinct, haunting vibe.
