Why it matters

A tense fusion of supernatural folk horror and crime thriller rooted in Hong Kong and Thai underworlds, where a cursed affair unleashes a creeping malevolence with deadly consequences.

  • Blends gritty police procedural with ghostly vengeance steeped in regional superstition and urban myth.
  • Practical effects and atmospheric stormy nights amplify the creeping dread beyond typical crime dramas.
  • For fans of Asian horror that marries noir grit with dark folklore, echoing the mood of films like Ringu’s urban malaise or The Eye’s supernatural paranoia.
  • Not flawless—some pacing wobbles and exposition-heavy moments—but its cultural specificity and brooding tension make it a hidden gem for genre explorers craving cross-border scares.
