Carnage
Newlyweds Carol and Jonathan move into their new house, which is haunted by the ghosts of another couple who committed suicide there three years earlier.
Why it matters
A creeping haunted house tale that blends domestic dread with spectral vengeance, Carnage (1984) delivers a moody dive into post-traumatic hauntings.
- A rare ’80s ghost story that favors slow-building atmosphere over cheap jump scares.
- Practical effects and eerie visuals evoke classic haunted house vibes without feeling dated.
- Perfect for fans of haunted couple narratives like The Changeling or Burnt Offerings.
- The film’s pacing can drag, but its unsettling mood and emotional core reward patient viewers.
